Mommy Goggles 'Year Round' Gift Guide!

Microsoft Arc Keyboard

I work at the computer a lot. I have a laptop, but I get dizzy being so close to my screen. I have been sitting at my new dining table for about a week so I can get some work done, meanwhile getting my desk and office area organized so I can migrate back to my office. With this said, I am so excited about a new keyboard from Microsoft. Why do I need a keyboard separate from my laptop, you are probably asking. Well, with this, I am able to move my laptop back, away from being so close to my eyes (so my eyes can focus better than being so up close) and I can have the separate keyboard so that I can work easier and my eyes aren’t so tuned in on the screen. Here is my set up currently and it is working so good!

Arc Keyboard

I have my laptop propped up on a USB operated fan, in case you were wondering what was under it.

Since using the Arc Keyboard, I have noticed my headaches are less than they were before. I am able to sit back in my chair, get some work done and not have to hover over my computer. The keyboard is sleek, thin and did take some getting used to, but I love it!

MG Details

The Arc Keyboard is a redesign of the keyboard as we know it. It’s small enough to move easily around the house and so attractive it fits seamlessly with chic home accessories, so it looks at home wherever it’s used.

The Arc Keyboard shares the same design language with Microsoft Corp.’s best-selling Arc Mouse, with a beautifully curved profile, clean lines, and an ultraportable, lightweight shape. This keyboard is all about the home, and Microsoft Hardware’s industrial design team drew their inspiration from modern home accessories: flatware, lighting fixtures and vases, resulting in a keyboard that looks and feels like it belongs with other objects in the home. Weighing in at less than a pound, the Arc Keyboard is easy to move from room to room throughout the house, and its domed keyset comfortably rests on laps so people can kick back on the couch or type away on the kitchen counter. With its unique, compact design, the Arc Keyboard becomes a functional and stylish part of any living space.

MG thoughts

I really love this keyboard; everything about it! It is thin, lightweight and does run on 2 AAA batteries, so no cables to get in your way. It plugs in with this tiny USB connection, (see my pics below) which when you are done with your work, you can unplug the USB from your computer, and the USB connector is held on the back of the keyboard with a magnetic strip from inside to the back of the keyboard.

This keyboard is thin enough to store with your laptop, or desktop, computer. It is thin and lightweight enough that I can definitely see myself traveling with it. It is about as thin as .. well, it is thinner than my cell phone! (trying to think of something that you can relate to in size). I love that you can use this on any computer with a USB port, desktop or laptop. Before trying this keyboard out, I would have told you that there is no ‘need’ for an external keyboard, but the Arc Keyboard proved me wrong. My back doesn’t hurt from hovering over anymore. My eyes aren’t strained like they were before. I can sit on the couch, feet up and not have have my lap on fire from the heat of the underneath of my laptop – I can set my laptop to the side or in front of me on the sofa table. All in all – this is a fantastic keyboard: from look, style, layout, size, weight, and price.
