Comfort Zone with Feliway Diffuser
We have one cat in our home. Did you know that most of the pets in America are indoor pets? Living in the Midwest, I can totally see why that is true. We have some frigid winters! Shared living quarters between humans and felines can become a challenge when their stress-related behavior turns destructive. I can vouch for this since we had to give our baby kitty to another home because of her marking her spot all throughout our home. If I had known that there was a product that would be able to help her from doing this, I would have tried this before resorting to what we had to do. Since some areas of our home are now marked by the other kitty, we have been using Comfort Zone with Feliway Diffuser to help Milano not mark the furniture, curtains, floor, etc. We love our Milano, can you tell?

How Comfort Zone Works
What Are Cat Pheromones?
Pheromones emitted by animals through their skin and glands are natural chemicals that help them to communicate with others of the same species.
In mammals, the vomeronasal organ, a structure close to the nasal passage, receives these pheromone signals. When animals receive pheromone signals, there is an involuntary behavioral effect on those animals. There are many types of pheromones and different classes have different effects. Fo r instance, some serve social functions among animals, while others serve sexual functions.
Feline Facial Pheromones
Pheromones emitted by animals are natural chemicals that help them to communicate with others of the same species.
Comfort Zone® with Feliway® products mimic the feline facial pheromone that helps a cat feel at home in his environment. When your cat rubs his face on an object, or even you, he is releasing the feline facial pheromone that marks the area as familiar and safe.
When he senses this facial pheromone through the nasal passage, he recognizes it as familiar and does not feel the urge to urine mark or scratch.
The diffusers work by using a heating element to disperse the pheromone into the air. Once the pheromone is present, the pet breathes it in, and the pheromone attaches to a receptive organ called the vomeronasal organ located in the nasal cavity. The vomeronasal organ then signals the brain, via nerves, and a sense of well-being is established.
- Just plug it into the room in which the cat has recently urine marked or displayed signs of stress, for ’round-the-clock’ control

Spray

After cleaning urine-affected areas, spray directly onto the urine marks, as well as onto prominent objects including furniture, drapes, window frames and doorways.
Our thoughts
We have been using Comfort Zone with Feliway Diffuser for a couple of weeks now. We have it plugged in our living room, which is Milano’s main area that she is at in the entire house. Before, she would stretch up on the new couch and scratch at the corners. While I keep her claws trimmed, this can still cause damage to furniture by snagging strings or ripping the fabric. She seems more calm and hasn’t been doing it as much. Also, with the kitten that we gave to a new home having marked her spots throughout the main floor of the house, the Feliway Diffuser really does seem to tone Milano away from those marking spots. Before, Milano would sniff around and we were scared she might begin to mark her spot over those areas, but I really feel that the Feliway Diffuser is helping her not start marking. Milano is a pretty toned down kitty to begin with, but it’s better to be safe, than sorry! All in all, I really like the Comfort Zone Feliway Diffuser. There isn’t any smell to the human nose, so that’s nice. Who wants something fruity smelling when we have candles for that? Highly recommended for any home with a pet!
