My son is 6 1/2 and my daughter is 4. Both love to learn and have fun while they are learning. We had the chance to check out a new and improved Alphie. I remember playing with Alphie when I was a kid, so I was excited for my kids to check it out.

Even our 6 1/2 year old enjoys playing with him. As his fingers light up, the child counts down. He will even do addition and subtraction while the fingers light up & count down with you. Very cute to add as a stocking stuffer or a gift. My only complaint as a parent is that while there is a volume (high/low) it is still very loud.

She likes looking at the map to see what houses she is about to go to next. She is still venturing through the game and I, as a parent, love watching her interact with the characters on the game. The game itself comes with a miniature Lalaloopsy doll and I have noticed that she brings it to real life with her own Lalaloopsy.

Overall, we highly recommend Lalaloopsy ‘Sew Magical! Sew Cute!’ for Nintendo DS to any little girl this holiday season.

For anyone that knows me, you will know that I love to build things, tear things down, build up walls and most of all, home renovation. Right out of the box, I was pleased with what I saw. You get Beary Happi, the very first HappiTap character. He is adorable as can be! Within the package, you get a HappiTap., a foam pad in case you have a newer generation iPod (to prevent the iPod from being loose within the HappiTap itself), as well as a plastic ring making it easier to carry, travel with or even clip on the back of a car seat or even on an infant car seat handle. Kambry loves to have this on so that she can clip it on her backpack when we travel.

All you have to do is slip the iPod touch in the back portion of the HappiTap, download the free app and you are literally ready to go.

The free app has so many features on it, but you are able to upgrade for just 99 cents and open more features, like more stories, to HappiTaps.

How cute is he??? I love that it’s small in size, yet keeps the iPod touch padded on case it is dropped. My ONLY suggestion for HappiTaps would be to make the face insert a just a tiny bit wider and taller so that it’s easier to slide your finger over the option drop menu, as well as to see the home button on the iPod itself.

Our thoughts

The kids have their nightly quiet time where they watch one movie to tone down before bedtime. This is our routine that works for us. While the kids usually watch a slower type movie, this series is one of their favorites to watch. When I was a kid, I used to read and collect comic books, so for my little ones to watch the characters that I grew up with and fell in love with. Volume 3 & 4 are a close replica to the comics that I remember as a kid. The animations in both are amazing and full of life. Within the bonus material on both, AVENGERS UNMASKED: Masters of Evil, Hail; & Hydra are revealed. I love that as you are watching the series, it really does look like you are within a comic book and that you are actually there with the superhero’s. Both of my kids love to build things. I, as a parent, love to build things with my kids, but to be blunt, the traditional building blocks get a bit boring when there’s no guide to go off of. Hasbro’s latest construction sets, KRE-O, are perfect for that little mind that loves to build!

We received the Transformers Basic Set. It was all fun from the get go!

When we first opened this, I just about freaked out. When they said there were 90 pieces, I wasn’t expecting 90 itty-bitty-teeny-tiny pieces. It was nice to see that the two creations (figure/truck) are in their own packages so that you can get started right away with whichever you want to start with first.

Tucker (6 years old) created the truck and well, he hasn’t created the action figure yet. He is in awe at the truck that he built that he is currently building a parking garage for it.

The set includes stickers that tells you where to put them, as per instructions within the box. Very cool addition!

Overall, I would definitely pay $7.99 for this, and be able to get him a few more sets as gifts and even stocking stuffers. I feel this is a great deal and worth the price. Hours of entertainment to build a truck and an action guy are well worth it. Looking for a different stocking stuffer? This is perfect!

With the holidays so close, there’s one thing that I love in my house and that’s the smell of the holidays. Having two small kids in the house, I don’t like to have candles in my house, so this is where Scentsy is here to help. I was surprised that I loved Eskimo Kiss so much! The smell is nice and not overwhelming at all. Probably one of my faves within the Scentsy collection. I have it in both my wall burner downstairs, as well as upstairs, and I am in love with the Eskimo Kiss Fragrance Foam. It doesn’t leave my hands sticky like some other foams have been known to do. I loved all of these scents, but had some reservations on Festival of Trees Scentsy Bar & Pumpkin Marshmallow Scentsy Bar. I, personally, didn’t like Pumpkin Marshmallow at all. Festival of the Trees is nice, but make sure you have a nice open home to get this to spread, otherwise your eyes will be burning with pine. Christmas Cottage is amazing! It does have a cinnamon spice type scent, so I wouldn’t recommend this in a small space. Whiteout is another fave. I have an office in my basement and this is perfect for it. It smells amazing and flows through the upstairs beautifully!

My kids are big Nintendo DS fans and when there’s a movie that they are already in love with, they are giddy to see that there is a game that goes along side it. On Tuesday, November 8, Happy Feet Two – The Videogame , one of the year’s coolest family friendly games, became available. We already love the movie, so to see a game that coincides is even better!

Happy Feet Two – The Videogame is a musical adventure game for the entire family inspired by the whimsical Antarctic world of the upcoming animated film Happy Feet Two. In the game, new dangers are threatening the penguin nation, and it’s going to take everyone working – and dancing – together to save them from extinction. Players use dance moves to recruit penguins with unique abilities that help advance the adventure, stun opponents and enemies, as well as manipulate the environment around them to solve co-operative puzzles.

It’s Time to Get Happy! In the footsteps of the Academy Award winning Happy Feet comes a beat-bumping, musical adventure based on the coolest movie of the year. In Happy Feet Two: The Videogame, play as Mumble as he traverses the Antarctic landscape with his best friend Ramon to save their penguin tribe from extinction.

I had a chance to play this before the kids got their hands on it. It seems like it is a fun game, but as a parent, there are some annoying things to the game like when you are at a question mark, you push the B button and not only does words pop up for you to read, but the sound of a typewriter clicking while the letters are brought out. I could live without that part. Even my 6 YO found it the same way. You can get to other areas within the game by sliding on their belly, or dancing your way to break boulders of ice open to retrieve prizes and music. It starts out a bit slow, but the further you get in the game, the more colors, the more music and more fun is brought to life. Overall, we really like Happy Feet Two for the DS. The age range is nice for my 6YO, but my 4 YO just isn’t in to it just yet. The music that is created as the penguins {Mumble & Ramon} dance is really cute.

Happy Feet Two – The Videogame is available on Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS. Prices vary per platform.
